NW Explorer Series w/Misty trip 4

Type:Fieldtrip
Description:NW Explorer Series w/Misty trip 4) Family Canoe Trip: Tualatin River

If you have ever been canoeing, then you know that canoeing affords us a view of the wildlife that you seldom get while walking on trails. Paddling silently through the water, you may surprise a blue heron, an osprey, or a beaver. Canoeing is a great way to spend time together as a family and experience a new adventure. Join naturalist Misty Stromme on the Tualatin River on this canoe trip suitable for beginners and families.

This field trip is open to anyone interested in canoeing and experiencing nature firsthand. It is recommended for ages 8 and up. Everyone must wear a life jacket.

Dress for chilly weather (it is often cooler on the water) with a water-repellent jacket and quick drying pants / shorts. Wear shoes you can get wet and bring a change of dry clothes. Bring a water bottle and a sack lunch. You will need sunscreen and (possibly) bug repellant. Bring binoculars if you want. A hat and sunglasses are also recommended. Put cell phones, wallets, and keys in a Ziploc bag with air in it for flotation. Snacks should also be in a watertight container. We will meet at the field trip site, Alder Creek’s Brown’s Ferry rental location, at 9:30am. Canoe rental costs $25 per family paid at site.

When: Sunday June 3rd 2012 10:30am-2:00pm

Cost: $13 per member family. Please pre-pay at the Village Home office.

You will receive a confirmation call the Friday before each NW event. Directions will be sent via e-mail following confirmation of attendance.
