Nestled in the heart of sunny central Oregon, Tumalo rests along Oregon's spectacular Deschutes River. The campground is simultaneously close enough to the town of Bend to make a quick jaunt to the grocery store, but far enough away to escape the commotion. Its location makes it an ideal stepping stone for any type of outdoor activity you could possibly dream of: floating in the river, clear blue-ribbon trout steams, pristine alpine lakes, miles upon miles of challenging yet scenic hiking and mountain bike trails, and of course the Cascade Mountains are all within easy reach. Grab your raft and float with your feet dangling into the cool water during the heat of the summer. Take a hike and explore one of the river trails as they gently wind through canyons created by the untamed river. Watch deer forage for food just as the sun creeps below the rim of the canyon.

YURT LOTTERY:

The YURT LOTTERY is open now and will stay open until Thursday, April 26 at 3pm.   Yurt winners will be drawn on April 26^th. Register now for the yurt lottery on the field trip page of the website.

TENT and RV Reservations:

On Friday April 27^th at 8am, reservations for TENT or RV sites will open ONLINE on the FieldTrip/Workshop page on Friday, April 27^th at 8am.  

Please note, there are five listings related to this trip - - (1) YURT Lottery for full week (enter lottery by April 26 at 3pm), (2) RV or TENT reservation full week, (3) TENT ONLY reservation full week, (4) Partial TENT ONLY arrive Monday, leave on Thursday and (5) WAITLIST for a tent site.  

How the Yurt Lottery Works – lottery closes Thursday, April 26 at 3pm

If you want to be in the yurt lottery, sign up online before 3pm on Thursday, April 26. At 3pm on Thursday, April 26, we will draw names from the list of everyone who entered.  The winners will be contacted on Thursday by email before 5pm. IF YOU WIN THE LOTTERY YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE CAMPING TRIP.  If you do NOT win the lottery, you must register online for an RV or Tent site on April 27.  We anticipate that all sites will be gone by the end of the day on Friday.  Good luck!

What do we do on the trip?

Most of the time, families “do their own thing” together.  River floating activities will surely be a feature, so bring rafts, inner tubes and other floating things. There’s also plenty of opportunity for bike riding, hiking, and fishing. Don’t forget to bring “river shoes” – they are handy for the solar  showers too.
