Last Class - Performance

Hi,

Tomorrow will be our last class of the term. Traditionally, we have done a little "recital" performance for parents and friends in the last 30 minutes. Though many people were absent last week, I'd still like to attempt a performance of some sort, to give those who want it the opportunity to share what they've learned.

Thus, please feel free to invite your family/friends to come to our classroom at 3:00 tomorrow.

It has been a treat to work with you all! Next term, the class is offered at 1:15 on Mondays.

Next Term

Hi Everyone,

It is such a pleasure working with this wonderful group of students! Every year, it seems like we start off slowly and then pick up speed, as people get better and better on the instruments and with music reading.

It feels like we are just starting to roll, so I am sorry to report that I will no longer be teaching this class on Tuesdays after this term ends. It will be better for my family if I only come to Village on Mondays.

Lori has kindly agreed to try Music Foundations on Mondays starting in January, possibly from 12:00-1:00 or 1:15-2:15. However, we don't know that enough people will be able to come on that day/time to make the class happen. It will be published in the new catalog soon, and hopefully, if people are amenable to the change, we can keep the class going.

If not, please accept my sincerest regrets, as I have very much enjoyed teaching this wild class, and I wish I could see how much each of you could progress in a year, given how far you have come in a few weeks.

Music Foundations begins next Tuesday

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited for another year of teaching Music Foundations! I love this class, because the students always learn and grow so much, and the music is a lot of fun. I hope you will feel the same as I do.

I've selected a lot of wonderful music for this school year - hopefully, we'll get to it all! You can count on playing pianos, recorders, and guitars every Tuesday in class, and hopefully you will be motivated to practice at home too.

If you don't have a keyboard, guitar, or recorder at home, see if you can borrow one from a friend, relative, or neighbor. You might post a request on the Village Home yahoo groups if needed. It will help a lot to have these instruments at home.

Everyone who joins our class is unique in their abilities and musical knowledge -- some people will have taken the class for a number of years, some have taken private piano lessons, and some are totally new to reading music. It is my goal to give you all enough information in each class so you can learn at your own pace. So if you are new, you won't be expected to play as well as someone who has studied music for several years. And if you are "old," I hope to give you ways to make our songs more complicated and challenging, so you will never be bored. If at any time you feel overwhelmed or underwhelmed by the class, please let me know and I can adjust the pace for you.
