Theater for Kids Blog

Have you ever pretended to be someone else just for fun? Maybe you've played dress up with mom or dad's old clothes and acted out a story with your friends. Or maybe you just like to move and play!

We'll put stories into action through a series of physical activities, improv games, and role playing exercises. Together through play we'll learn the "who, what, where" of narrative structure in order to develop our creativity, connect with each other, and think on our feet!

Drama for Kids - Winter Term

Greetings and Happy New Year Village Families!

WOW! Where has the time gone?! Can you believe that we start back to classes this Monday? I couldn't be more excited! (Especially since it's been a while since I've seen some of you!)

I hope you all had a wonderful, restful, fun-filled holiday season and that you're as excited and ready as I am to jump back into the swing of things!

If you are reading this it's because you are enrolled in Drama for Kids for the Winter Term, Tuesdays 10:45 - 11:45. Attached is a syllabus for your perusal. Please take a look at it so that you have an idea of what to expect for how we'll be spending our time together and please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I like to look at all of the classes that I teach as a wonderfully fun road trip together, which means that it is entirely about the journey and not the destination. My role as the driver means that I set the pace (at least initially), keep everyone safe, and provide the map (just in case!) We may set out with a destination in mind and we might even get there, but if there's something my fellow travelers are excited about seeing along the way, I pull the car over and we play at the giant dinosaur, explore the meteor crater or have our pictures taken beside the world's largest ball of twine. You get the picture. Then when and "IF" we make it to wherever it was that we said we would go, the emphasis has been on our experiences along the way and not on "making good time."

I hope that this is a style of learning that works for you and your learner and again, please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss whatever is on your mind. I'm here to help your child learn and I want to do so in the way that works best for him or her. Let me know how I can help.

Have a wonderful Winter Term everyone! See you soon!

Warm Wishes,

Whitney

Hi All,

Last class this week! It has been such a pleasure. I would like to invite families to come and watch the last class. If you come for the last 30 minutes of class, you can see some of the things the students have been working on.

Many Thanks!

Steve
